December 2018 www.coalage.com 49 product news continued will provide improved reliability and op- erating performance for the mines along with a wide range of productivity features. "Sandvik was awarded the contract having delivered a good technical pro- posal to the customer, showing the ability to provide excellent technical solutions based on Sandvik's vast experience in designing bolter miners and roadheader in the area of mechanical cutting equip- ment," said Roman Tonyshev, business line manager, mechanical cutting division, Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology. Delivery of all machines is scheduled for the second half of 2019. www.sandvik.com Regulators With Lifetime Warranty The Victor Edge 2.0 regulators have brought innovation, performance, ease-of-use and safety to the market. A forward-thinking design incorporating easy-to-read, intui- tive gauges and superior flow performance are just a few of the features that set it apart from other regulators, according to ESAB Cutting & Welding Products. The patented SLAM (Shock Limitation and Absorption Mechanism) technology permits the knob to absorb the impact in the event of a cylin- der fall, providing the highest level of safety. Now, as part of its Iron Clad Pledge, ESAB has announced a new Lifetime Warranty on all Victor EDGE 2.0 Series regulators, along with a 100% satisfaction guarantee on its gas equipment, welding and manual plasma equipment, MIG guns and filler metals. "The proven performance in Victor EDGE 2.0 regulators has given us the con- fidence to offer the Lifetime Warranty," said John Henderson, director product mar- keting for ESAB. "In addition, ESAB's 100% satisfaction provides enhanced purchase protection for 100 days after the date of purchase. If users are not satisfied within that time, an ESAB customer care represen- tative can help them with a replacement or refund." In addition to the EDGE 2.0 Life- time Warranty, ESAB has extended the war- ranty on other leading Victor products. www.esab.com Production Scheduling Software Maptek recently released Evolution 5.1, an intelligent mine scheduling optimization package. According to the developer, the computational power of the software is unparalleled in the scheduling arena and is underpinned by a drive to provide inno- vative solutions to current and prospec- tive scheduling problems. The latest release features updates to enhance medium, long term and strategic life-of-mine scheduling, reducing operat- ing costs and maximizing deposit value. A multi-objective optimization algo- rithm introduced into Evolution Origin for scheduling with blocks has been expand- ed to handle scheduling with solids. Users can now optimize with solids on NPV and blending, comparing multiple conflicting objectives to define a range of practical solutions for consideration. Targeted improvements for coal cus- tomers include greater flexibility around dependencies, functionality to add mul- tiple dragline excavators and enhanced haulage configuration. Integration between Maptek Vulcan and Evolution streamlines critical mine planning activities. Road haulage networks generat- ed in Vulcan can be dragged and dropped into Evolution. Scheduling attributes can be loaded onto Vulcan triangulations for further analysis. Users can create a Vulcan block model in Evolution to take advantage of the Schedule Progress option in Vulcan. www.maptek.com ABB Adds New Digital Options for Miners ABB recently expanded its ABB Ability Sys- tem 800xA Power Control Library (former- ly the MIDAS Library) software to include more options to communicate with and control electrical devices throughout the power infrastructure for mining and mineral processing operations. The digital solution now supports the PLC Connect functional- ity to extend power automation beyond IEC 61850 devices and infrastructure. The Power Control Library is part of the innovative ABB Ability MineOptimize digital portfolio. It works within ABB Abil- ity System 800xA, which is a platform for monitoring and controlling a wide range of automated industrial processes. The li- brary is based on the IEC 61850 standard, which creates a common language for automated substations and power distri- bution systems so that technologically ad- vanced mines around the world are able to take advantage of its capabilities. It provides engineers that operate automated mines with the ability to rap- idly troubleshoot electrical system issues through an enhanced substation con- trol and monitoring environment in one control room. It allows a broader range of electrical and substation equipment to be monitored and managed remotely, so that potential issues can be resolved quickly and safely. This remote monitoring allows the plant team to solve problems safely, away from the electrical substation, thus reducing the time for electrical fault diag- nosis and problem solving. new.abb.com Non-Contact Measurement of Bulk Materials Berthold Technologies' mass-flow mea- surement can be easily implemented in all kinds of conveyor systems. The system can measure the conveying capacity as well as the mass flow (tonnage) of the conveying system. It provides reliable measurements with a high rate of reproducibility (± 1%). The non-contact system is also free of any maintenance or need for re-calibration. www.berthold.com Cleanup Hydrocarbon Contamination Bioremediation usually involves using co- pious amounts of water. Much of the wa- ter, however, will naturally flow away from the targeted area, so treatments need to be
