June 2019 www.coalage.com 31 shovels and excavators continued tial for shovel reliability and produc- tivity on large-scale mine sites. This is one of the state-of-the-art systems and solutions from ABB that expand functionality, reduce maintenance costs and extend the life of equipment. "Due to the extreme conditions in open-pit mining, the challenge is to deliver a solution that operates reliably 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year and provides optimum power for the load cycle requirements of the shovel," said Boris Rathmann, product manager shovel and dragline at ABB."This latest order comes 15 years after the compa- ny's first order for ABB drive technol- ogy to support P&H shovels and takes our fleet of ABB AC drives for shovels to a milestone figure of 100." Hump Hose Solution The Hercules/HT System from Manuli Hydraulics consists of the newly de- veloped 6WS hose, a selection of high- ly robust Interlok Super fittings, the GoldenCrimp/420 crimping machine and a heat-shrinkable sleeve (HSSL). Designed to work flawlessly to- gether, this system enables the easy field-replacement of the critical "hump hoses" found on giant exca- vators, and provides a performance equal to, and often exceeding, the original factory-fitted hoses. The Hercules/HT System is de- signed for working pressures up to 420 bar, and is available in the most commonly used sizes of DN 31, DN 38 and DN 51. A new system eases the replacement of hump hoses in the field.
