Other products on display at MINExpo included the Phoenopipe® ST 2500 which, the company says, is used in the world's longest closed conveyor belt. As well as minimizing dust emissions and material loss, the belt's structure is designed to keep the belt on track, even when traveling around tight curves. Phoenix also showcased its extremely strong Uniflex® PVG textile belt, designed and developed especially for mining. The PVCimpregnated carcass and thick rubber covers provide outstanding heavy-duty characteristics, the company says, while adding that the belt satisfies the world's most stringent safety requirements. Materials-handling from Mine to Shipment, and Beyond The Aumund group comprises Aumund Fördertechnik, Schade Lagertechnik and Samson Materials Handling. For more than 90 years, Aumund products have been at the core of minerals processing, from heavy apron feeders for run-of-mine ore, through each stage of preparation and beneficiation to storage and export. In addition, Aumund also provides import facilities with handling, storing and distributing systems, so providing a complete handling solution for mines and mineral processors. In recent years, Rheinberg-based Aumund has consolidated its established position in the cement and steel industry and reinforced its long-standing connections in the minerals and mining sector with an expanded dedicated minerals and mining department. Recent successes, particular in the fertilizer industry, include projects with OCP in Morocco, Potasio Rio Colorado in Argentina, MBAC Fertilizer Corp. in Brazil, Eurochem VolgaKali in Russia, Quebec Lithium and Kali & Salz. "The right technology, rapid availability, long product life and a competitive market price were decisive in Aumund winning these contracts," said the department's head, Dr. Michael Mutz. A heavy-duty apron weigh feeder from Aumund. 2013 ¥ VDMA MINING SUPPLEMENT In these projects, Aumund equipment is used to handle phosphate, potash and urea as well as materials such as iron and lithium ores. The equipment, which includes drag-chain conveyors and bucket-chain elevators for material transfer to silo storage, or between process-plant levels, provides high-performance, reliable conveying solutions, Dr. Mutz added. Schade specializes in high-capacity automated stacker and reclaimer equipment for a range of industries. Recent projects have included equipment delivered to companies such as OCP, Safco (Saudi Arabian Fertilizer Co.), and Alexfert and Helwan Fertilizer Co. in Egypt. For all of these projects, Schade delivered longitudinalstockpile portal reclaimers capable of handling up to 800 mt/h. It has also supplied larger units, an example being one that handles potash at the Neptune terminal in Vancouver, which has reclaim rates of up to 3,000 mt/h. While these stockpiles are generally enclosed, external facilities are adequate for storing sulphur prills—as was the case in a contract for two combined stacker/portal scraper-reclaimers. With a 65 m rail span, these each handle 600 t/h, and were installed at a Gazprom plant in Russia. Samson Materials Handling has supplied a number of mobile shiploaders for handling urea and finished fertilizer products. It also recently delivered a unit to Refineria Isla Curaçao for exporting sulphur pellets that are used to make sulphuric acid in fertilizer manufacture. Aumund points out that the flexibility offered by mobile handling equipment is very attractive for short-term projects or where specific market conditions demand a fast-track solution without fixed port or terminal infrastructure. VDMA Beumer's Belt Conveyors— an Economical Alternative The Beumer Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG group, based in Beckum and with affiliations around the world, has been developing customized system solutions for conveying, loading, palletizing and packaging technology, as well as sorting and distribution systems, for more than 75 years. Belt conveyors, Beumer says, provide an economical and ecological solution for transporting bulk materials and packaged The overland conveyor supplied by Beumer. VDMA 27
