This month, Coal Age reports on Signal Peak Energy's use of cuttable con- crete in its longwall recovery room. On the cover, (from the left) Robert Ochsner, Signal Peak Energy, and Dr. John Stankus and Dr. Xiaoting Li, Keystone Mining Services, examine the concrete face and the performance of the 13-ft long fiberglass rib bolts (seen protruding from face) that were pre-installed from the recovery room to stabilize the concrete rib as it became narrow during the final cut-through.
