Grand Transformers Acquires Warner Power Grand Transformers (GTI), a Grand Haven, Michigan-based designer and manufactur- er of transformers, inductors and custom magnetic components, recently acquired Warner, New Hampshire-based Warner Power, a leader in the design and manu- facture of electrical transformers and pow- er systems. The acquisition of Warner provides GTI with access to new customers, tech- nical capabilities and industries, and the two companies will complement each other on their shared strengths. Blasting Course Offers In-depth Instruction RAM recently announced the dates and locations of its annual in-depth, two-and- a-half day fall Blasting and Explosives Safety Training (BEST) Course. Once again, the training sessions will be held at the South Dakota School of Mines in Rapid City, South Dakota. Classes will be held from Wednesday, September 7 through Friday, September 9. Additionally, the 20 CE-hours course will include an instruc- tional tour of the Crazy Horse Memorial and sightseeing tours of Deadwood and Mount Rushmore. The BEST Course is the premier con- t i n u i n g e d u c a t i o n a l p r o g r a m f o r t h e advancement of safety and application of explosives. "Today, there is a growing recognition and culture of thinking and acting safely at work, so employees go home to their families every night unin- jured," said Robert McClure, president of RAM Inc. and BEST course facilitator and instructor. "Our enhanced BEST Course is a great opportunity for companies to improve the recognition of hazardous situations and advance the safe use of explosives." Developed for all experience levels, the fall BEST Course is taught by instruc- tors with decades of practical experience i n t h e i r r e s p e c t i v e f i e l d s , e d u c a t i n g attendees on explosives safety and appli- cation, hazard recognition, accident pre- vention, the latest on regulations, and n e w p r o d u c t i n t r o d u c t i o n s r e l a t e d t o explosives and face profiling.
