42 www.coalage.com March 2018 suppliers news Liebherr to Expand Newport News Facility Liebherr plans to invest $45 million in the expansion of its Newport News, Virginia, facility. The new expansion will include the construction of three new buildings on 28 acres adjacent to the Liebherr's current manufacturing facility. Once complet- ed, the new facilities will total more than 251,000 ft 2 . Liebherr builds haul trucks at this location and it distributes and services its other mining and construction equip- ment from this facility as well. "Since 1970, our continued success and commitment to customers in the United States has al- ways been at the forefront of everything we have done and continue to do," said Torben Reher, managing director of Lieb- herr USA, Co. "This expansion underlines our commitment and further strengthens our position in North America to deliver sustainable long-term growth and to offer exceptional and consistent experience to customers across the United States." The expansion will offer space for Li- ebherr USA Co.'s new headquarters and administrative building, a production and workshop facility, and a warehouse and distribution building. Construction is ex- pected to begin in July and be completed by summer 2020. Stantec to Acquire Norwest Alberta-based, engineering and design firm Stantec has signed a Letter of Intent to acquire Norwest Corp. With the addi- tion of Norwest, Stantec's Energy & Re- sources business operating unit will add a strong mining practice to the compa- ny's portfolio in western Canada, Stantec said. Norwest, a 140-person energy and resources firm headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, has offices in Vancouver, British Columbia; Denver and Trinidad, Colora- do; Salt Lake City, Utah; and Charleston, West Virginia. The acquisition is expected to close in the second quarter. "We are seeing positive momentum in this sector after a number of challenging years," said Gord Johnston, president and CEO, Stantec. "Both firms were able to ef- fectively manage business during the eco- nomic downturn, and we are looking for- ward to expanding Stantec's geotechnical, geological, and mining work for our en- ergy and resources clients across western Canada and the western United States." "When we first explored becoming part of Stantec, it was clear that our pro- fessional work aligned, and our compa- ny's values were very similar," said Steve Cameron, president, Norwest. "We ap- preciate their continued commitment to our industry, and their desire to grow and diversify operations. We are confi- dent that by joining Stantec, our exper- tise, paired with Stantec's resources, will provide a positive impact to both staff and clients." With the addition of Norwest to Stan- tec's current Energy & Resources opera- tions, the mining sector in western Cana- da will grow to more than 100 employees. In the Vancouver market, Norwest's pres- ence has assisted in the redevelopment of the northeast British Columbia coal mining sector, and new metal mine de- velopment projects. In the United States, Norwest has established itself as a leading coal mining consultant with expertise in resource and reserve assessments, mine planning, mineral processing, water man- agement and permitting, and due dili- gence activities. JENNCHEM Signs Exclusive Distribution Agreement With Quaker JENNCHEM has reached an agreement with Quaker Chemical granting JEN- NCHEM exclusive distribution rights for Quaker's mining ground-control agents. An affiliate of JENNMAR, JENNCHEM de- signs and delivers chemical roof support, rock stabilization and ventilation sealing products to the mining and underground construction industries. Quaker is a global provider of process fluids, chemical spe- cialties, and technical expertise to a wide range of industries. Specific products that will be branded JENNCHEM and exclusively distributed under the agreement include JENNCHEM PUR 70 (Minetech PUR 70), a two-compo- nent polyurethane product intended for ground stabilization and consolidation of fractured or unstable strata; JENNCHEM US Foam (Minetech Foamsil), a rapid re- acting silicate foam system used for cavity filling applications; JENNCHEM US Grout (Minetech Aquasil), a two-component silicate injection resin used for ground consolidation, water stopping and strata reinforcement; and JENNCHEM J-FOAM (Minetech Q-Foam), a low-pressure spray polyurethane foam system. "Together, we will be collaborating on innovative chemical solutions for ground control and ventilation products as well as providing superior service to our custom- ers," said Tony Calandra, executive vice president, JENNMAR.
